Projection: Sixth Round
Overview: Late-blooming senior with an elite frame and well of developmental potential, took a while to finally break onto the scene. Arrived at Minnesota around 240 pounds and played primarily as a rotational defender from 2017 to 2019. Was a scarce college producer who racked up only seven and a half sacks over his career, but his size and movement skills earned an invite to the Senior Bowl.
Strengths: Freakishly large with elite length and frame. Consistently locks out as a pass-rusher and knows how to use his length. Straight line speed is remarkable for his size. Quality balance allows him to keep his feet in awkward positions. Bull rush has serious potential if he can learn to uncork it more. Quick enough laterally to run stunts. Hand usage improved throughout the year.
Weaknesses: Faces a natural leverage disadvantage and lacks the flexibility to offset it. Not a technically nuanced pass-rusher. Struggles to pair moves together and create threats for blockers. More of a developmental athlete than a refined football player. Allows his base to get narrow and it leads to gridlock. Not the type who can bend around the corner and dip under blocks. Motor is ordinary. Below average burst out of his stance for a defensive end.
Pro Comp: Lavar Edwards, Retired - Edwards skittered around to eight different NFL teams in five years but his upside kept him in the league longer than most. Otomewo will need to transfer his athleticism to the field more regularly to avoid a similar fate. He'll get paid somewhere, though, due to potential.
