Scouting Report

40 time: 5.29

Projection: Fourth Round

Overview: Was an impressive four-year basketball player in high school and some of that background is evident on his tape. He redshirted his first season in Pullman but took over the starting right tackle job as a redshirt freshman. Made 43 starts over the past four years and has built a strong resume to put in front of NFL decision-makers.

Strengths: Excellent combination of size and length will meet the prototype for most teams at tackle. Active feet in pass protection and won't let his lower half stall out when mirroring. Calm with his pass sets and won't go into panic mode after a mistake. Well versed in independent hand technique.

Weaknesses: Movements in space are a bit sluggish and doesn't move fluidly at the second level. Gives up his chest too easily and can get shocked backwards by a good long arm move. Anchor doesn't consistently match his measurements. Tendency to open his chest and try to maul defenders on their way in won't fly well in the pros.

Pro Comp: Terence Steele, Dallas Cowboys -- Lucas' combination of mass and length will be enticing for teams looking for a developmental right tackle, but he could face some early struggles while translating to an NFL running game.
