Scouting Report

40 time: 4.68

Projection: Fifth Round

Overview: Hailing from Cameroon, arrived in the states at 12. Played soccer and basketball initially before picking up football as a sophomore in high school, but his inexperience didn't hold him back. He originally committed to Temple and spent four years with the program before transferring to Penn State. He entered 2021 on draftnik radars based on his 2020 output but an enormous senior year has helped cement his place as a solid day-three candidate.

Strengths: Punishing tackler who overwhelms runners when he makes contact. Twitchy and explosive making adjustments in pursuit. Can generate push with his bull rush. Smart eyes and hands to identify the runner and shed on time. Capable stand-up rusher who is comfortable in a two-point stance. Plays the whistle and finds work wherever he can. Subtle hand counters soften the edge against blockers. Imposing hand strength helps create opportunities.

Weaknesses: Inconsistent knee bender who rises his way into leverage issues. Burst is inconsistent from snap to snap. More of a technical rusher than a dynamite athlete. Lacks the range needed to survive in coverage at the NFL level. Stiff player who can't flip his hips and make adjustments in space. Too often walled off in the run game due to leverage issues. Not very laterally quick.

Pro Comp: Daelin Hayes, Ravens - Ebiketie is a bit longer and more natural putting his hand in the dirt, but the same major points of contact balance, play strength, and leverage worries are shared across their games. Ebiketie may need to provide some special teams value to guarantee a roster spot but could be a valuable backup early in his career.
