Winter Games Athletes
One of the senior members of the U.S. Alpine team, Sullivan has been to three previous Winter Games and competed in two. Most recently, he finished 23rd in the super-G at the 2010 Games and was disqualified from the downhill. His ninth-place downhill run at the 2002 Salt Lake Games stands as his best result at the Olympics. Sullivan’s World Cup career began in the 2002 season, and he’s recorded 13 top-10 finishes since, making it to the podium four times. His strongest seasons were 2008 and 2009, with his fourth-place finish in the season-long downhill standings in 2008 highlighting that stretch. His only career race victory came in January 2008, and after making one podium in 2009, his career seemed to be in decline until he earned a third-place finish in November 2012. After three seasons outside the top 15, Sullivan finished 14th in the 2013 downhill standings as the Americans’ top skier in the discipline with Bode Miller taking the season off. In addition to his Olympic experience, Sullivan has added major championship runs with four world championship teams. He’s placed in the top 25 in downhill twice, and his best result at worlds was 17th in super-G back in 2003.
