Yater-Wallace is considered by many to have a bright future in the ski halfpipe as he heads to his first Olympics. As a 16-year-old in 2011, he won silver in his X Games debut, a bronze at Euro X and also earned a victory in his first appearance on the World Cup circuit. He followed in 2012 with a gold medal at the X Games Tignes and a bronze at X Games Aspen. Yater-Wallace also earned two podiums on the Dew Tour and the AFP halfpipe crown that season. After missing a brief period while recovering from shoulder surgery in 2013, he won silver again at the X Games, was second at the U.S. Grand Prix and won a World Cup event at the Olympic venue in Sochi. He was second at the world championships last season after finishing 13th at worlds two years earlier. Yater-Wallace could find himself on the halfpipe podium in Sochi along with teammate David Wise.
