Zezel is headed to his first Olympics looking to continue his rise as one of the United States' top young curlers. Expected to be the second on John Shuster's team, Zezel is rather familiar with reaching the podium. He's won the bronze at the last two U.S. championships after claiming the gold at the 2011 junior national championships. That year he also won the Minnesota state junior playdowns after finishing second in each of the previous five tournaments. He still hasn't found much international success, placing sixth at the world junior championships in 2011. Zezel, though, helped the U.S. reach Sochi after it defeated the Czech Republic 8-5 in a playoff at the qualifying tournament in December. Despite his age and inexperience internationally, Zezel could prove to be a surprise for the U.S. as it looks to improve on its last-place finish in Vancouver.
