Winter Games Athletes
Carr is qualified to compete in just one event - the 5,000-meter relay - as he heads to Sochi to participate in his first Olympics, but that's no surprise as he's spent his short track career as a relay specialist. Carr has won five World Cup medals in relays and was a member of the bronze-winning team at the 2011 world championships. While in high school, Carr was introduced to speedskating by his former inline coach, and later made the junior world championship team in 2005. He moved up to the senior World Cup team in 2006, but broke his ankle during a junior competition and was forced to take a year off. Carr has been a member of the U.S. World Cup squad each of the last four years and competed on the world championship team the past three. His full name is actually Christopher Kyle Carr, but he goes by Kyle.
