Winter Games Athletes
Dreissigacker will make her Olympic debut in a dramatic rise that saw her take up biathlon shortly after graduating from Dartmouth in 2009. She does not have much experience on the World Cup circuit but made her world championships debut in 2013 as she finished 56th in the individual event and 71st in the sprint. Her rise can be credited partly to Finnish coach Jonne Kahkonen, the first full-time women’s coach in U.S. history. The former engineering student has trained as part of the Craftsbury Green Racing team, a group of elite athletes who are also focused on environmentally conscious lifestyles. Dreissigacker hasn’t enjoyed much success on the World Cup circuit, being unable to finish a race in mid-January.
