Winter Games Athletes
Krass earned one of the last spots on the slopestyle team by winning a Grand Prix event in Utah in January just days before the team was announced. Her 92.60 to beat Keri Herman was the deciding factor after Krass had previously faltered in qualifying. There was good reason for her early struggles, since the teenager was competing at the World Cup level for the first time. She posted three fourth-place finishes in 2013 in Nor-Am Cup events and also finished fifth at the 2013 FIS junior world championships. Krass has said that her dream was to compete in the Olympics, but in soccer. She continues to compete on her varsity high school soccer team, but Krass’ athleticism is more of an ideal fit for the slopes. She endured a broken leg and broken wrist two years ago, coming back with a flourish for a second-place finish at the 2012 junior nationals. Krass is clearly an athlete on the rise with a bright future.
