As possibly the most complete Alpine skier in the world, Maze heads to her fourth Winter Games looking to add Olympic gold to her long list of accomplishments. She’s a threat in all five disciplines. Maze took silver in the super-G and giant slalom in Vancouver, and since then she has climbed the World Cup standings each year, culminating in a dream 2013 season. After finishing fourth in the overall season standings in 2010, Maze finished third in 2011, second in 2012 and first in 2013. She found herself on a record 24 podiums in a single season to become the only woman in history to hold the top spot in the overall standings throughout the season. In addition to the overall title, she won the season titles in super-G, giant slalom and super-combined while placing second in downhill and slalom to set a World Cup record with 2,414 points. Second-place Maria Hoefl-Riesch was a record 1,313 points back. Maze has now won a total of 23 races with 66 career podiums, is one of six women in history to win in all five disciplines and one of three women who have won all five in a single season. In addition to her three Olympic appearances, Maze has represented Slovenia in the last seven world championships, winning six medals (two golds). In 2013, she won super-G gold and added silvers in giant slalom and combined.
