Career Highlights:

Kasper is one of the Americans’ slalom specialists, and he’s also one of their athletes on the mend. After overcoming hip problems and two ensuing surgeries, Kasper tore his ACL and meniscus in December 2012 while training in France, halting his career and putting Sochi in doubt. The injury forced him to miss to season and the 2013 world championships, and he’s now trying to regain the promising form he hinted at in 2011 and 2012. In March 2011, a 21-year-old Kasper became the first American male since Bode Miller in 2008 to make the World Cup podium in slalom. The second-place finish stands as the only podium appearance of his career, though he added fourth- and sixth-place finishes the following season. At the Vancouver Games, Kasper placed 24th in the slalom as the youngest member of the U.S. men’s team and followed that up with a 15th-place finish at the 2011 worlds, which stands as his last major championship competition.
