After a stellar 2013 season, Drew will make her Olympic debut in Sochi. Drew began her competitive sports career as a figure skater, and believes all those years of nailing jumps and spins on the ice made her confident to do the same on the snow. She earned a podium spot nine times during the 2011-12 season. She earned five first-place finishes in the halfpipe and two in slopestyle in 2012 and 2013. Drew finished fourth overall in the 2013 Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) rankings, and sixth in the halfpipe, where she improved five spots from the previous season. The highlight of Drew's 2013 season came when she earned invites to both the X-Games Aspen and the European X-Games. Though she finished sixth in the halfpipe in the United States' competition and eighth in the European version, Drew became the first woman to attempt a 1260 in the halfpipe during competition. She didn't land the difficult move, but earned plenty of respect from her peers for taking the chance. Though Drew is likely to be competitive in Sochi, she could find it tough medaling in the halfpipe with U.S. teammates Maddie Bowman and Devin Logan considered more serious podium contenders.
